In order to meet the needs of our alumnae sisters and encourage participation of all alumnae sisters, our alumnae community is divided into geographical regions: East, South, Midwest and West. Each alumnae region has a Director of Alumnae Activities who focuses her energy within that region. She advises the collegiate chapters about how to build and strengthen their relationship with their alumnae, she mentors and monitors any alumnae chapters in the region, and she works with individual alumnae who are seeking more ways to get involved.

You might notice that our alumnae regions don’t exactly align with our collegiate districts. That is deliberate for two reasons. First, by separating alumnae geography from collegiate chapter geography, we are reinforcing the message that alumnae are not limited by their affiliation with the collegiate chapter where they joined. Over the course of her life, an alumna may live in a variety of places. By taking the collegiate district structure out of the “where do I fit in?” question for alumnae, we hope they understand that they fit in WHEREVER they happen to live at the moment.

But we have a purely practical standpoint on separating alumnae organization from collegiate chapter organization, too. Our collegiate districts are subject to change every year as we gain or lose active chapters. That’s just too much for alumnae sisters to have to keep up with! It’s much simpler to define alumnae regions along state lines. Every ten years we reevaluate the way our alumnae region lines are drawn and make minor adjustments to ensure our alumnae population is still being well served.
