Board of Alumnae Affairs

The five positions below work closely with the Vice President of Alumnae Relations to enhance and deliver Omega Phi Alpha’s alumnae programming. They have quarterly conference calls using Webex to collaborate on alumnae projects.

Director of Alumnae Activities (DAA). One DAA will be selected for each of the four alumnae regions — South, East, Midwest and West. She will work to engage the alumnae who live in her region and advise the active chapters in her region on how to strengthen their relationship with their alumnae.

Alumnae Secretary. This leader is the “right hand” of the VP Alumnae Relations, helping with all of the administrative functions required to manage the BAA. She schedules the quarterly BAA meetings, writes up minutes, follows up with action items assigned to other BAA members, and many other tasks.

Young Alumnae Leader. The YAL works to help sisters across the country make the transition from collegiate member to alumnae member. She collects the names of graduating seniors, advises chapters on how to conduct the senior ceremony, and distributes a “welcome to alumnae status” packet to all young alumnae.

Alumnae Societies Coordinator. This leader focuses her energy on alumnae sisters who have been lifetime members 10 or more years since their activation date. She publicizes the Alumnae Societies induction ritual and personally invites sisters who are eligible to go through the ceremony… which is a critical first step to getting those sisters involved on the national level again if they’ve been away for a while!

Alumnae Convention Coordinator. The ACC is a critical member of the convention planning team whose sole focus is on making the alumnae convention experience the best it can be. Early in the year, she visits the site of the following summer’s convention to check out the meeting space and potential activities in the surrounding area. Then she publicizes the alumnae track, helps create the schedule, and serves as the alumnae “concierge” during the actual convention. In gratitude for all this work, her convention expenses are covered by the national sorority.
